The County is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package for our employees 

Tuition Reimbursement & Training 
  • Up to $3,500 per year to repay employee educational expenses.
 
Student Loan Repayment Assistance
  • Up to $8,000 to repay student loan expenses.
 
Deferred Compensation Plan
  • The County offers employees an optional 457 tax deferred supplemental retirement plan through VOYA.  Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis. The maximum amount an individual may defer is updated annually by IRS regulations. 

 
Maryland Pension Benefit
  • All full-time or regular part-time County employees are enrolled in the Maryland State Pension System or the Sheriff’s Office Retirement Plan with employer contributions of 11.97% or 41% of payroll.

 
St. Mary's Health Center 
  • Employees enrolled in our health plan have exclusive access to the Marathon Health Center in Leonardtown. 

  • No cost services include family medicine, sick and urgent care, onsite lab work, chronic condition management, and more! 
 
Employee Wellness Program
  • The County's wellness program encourages employee health and well-being through employer-sponsored health, fitness, and nutrition-based activities to inspire a whole and healthy you! 
  • Reimbursement available for gym or fitness program memberships. 
 
Holiday & Leave Benefits*
  • Holidays - The County provides thirteen (13) holidays per year. 
  • Personal Leave - Full-time employees are provided with twelve (12) hours of Personal Leave on January 1st of each year (pro-rated for new employees).
  • Sick Leave - Full-time employees accrue 4.62 hours of sick leave each pay period up to 120 hours per year

*Regular part-time employees are eligible for pro-rated holiday and leave benefits based upon the number of hours they are scheduled to work on an annual basis.

Supplemental Term Life Insurance
  • Coverage options for you, your spouse and your children
  • Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefit available to match life coverage
  • Affordable monthly rates
 
Whole Life Insurance  with Chronic Care**
  • Coverage options up from $10,000 - $100,000
  • Available to employees ages 15 - 80
  • Rates will never increase as you age
  • Coverage options available for
    •  Your spouse and;
    •  Your children
 
Accident**
  • 24-hour coverage for accidental injuries
  • $50 wellness benefit per insured per calendar year
 
Hospital Indemnity**
  • Hospital Admission - $1,000 per calendar year
  • $100 wellness benefit per insured per calendar year
 
Critical Illness**
  • Guaranteed issue coverage up to $30,000 for diagnosis of a major illness like heart attack, cancer, or stroke. 
  • $100 wellness benefit per insured per calendar year

**Policy is "portable" meaning  you can take it with you even if you leave the County or retire.
