New Hires and Transfers
You must complete your benefits enrollment within 30 days from your date of hire or transfer into a benefits-eligible position. If you do not submit your benefit selections within 30 days, you will not have medical or dental coverage. For other coverage, you will be enrolled in employee-only coverage in the VSP Standard vision plan, Basic Life Insurance, $10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Long Term Disability Insurance with a 90-day waiting period.
Family Status Changes
Unless you have a significant change in your family composition or the employment status of your spouse/state-registered domestic partner or child, you cannot make changes outside of the annual open enrollment period. If you do have a qualifying event, you will be allowed to modify your benefit selections consistent with the type of qualifying event. You must submit changes, including documentation of the event, on Workday within 30 days of the qualifying event date. All benefits changes made through any qualifying event will take effect on the 1st of the month on/after the event date.

El Camino Hospital provides excellent comprehensive medical protection. We offer two Aetna medical plans, the HMO plan, and the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) PPO plan. If you enroll in the HMO medical plan, you will need your Primary Care Physicians Aetna provider ID at the time you enroll.
When you’re choosing a health plan, there are many factors that affect your decision. If you want an option with flexibility, a high level of choice and tax-advantaged savings, a High Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA), might be the right choice for you. You are required to be enrolled in the Aetna HDHP PPO in order to enroll in the Health Savings Account (HSA).
El Camino Hospital partners with OptumRx to provide the prescription benefit to those enrolled in the Aetna HMO plan.
CVS Caremark through Aetna is the prescription benefit plan for the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) PPO w/HSA plan.
El Camino Hospital employees have the convenience of filling their prescription drugs at El Camino Outpatient Pharmacy. The Outpatient Pharmacy will fill prescriptions for up to 90 days at the retail copays of $5 (generic) and $20 (brand).
Silicon Valley Medical Development (SVMD) provides administrative and operational support to physicians and their practices, allowing them to focus on what matters most – taking care of patients. SVMD has developed a healthcare network comprised of providers from El Camino Medical Associates (ECMA) and San Jose Medical Group (SJMG).
El Camino Medical Associates (ECMA) is a multi-specialty medical group with a mission to deliver the highest quality healthcare and the most personalized experience through provider collaboration and innovative technologies and programs.
San Jose Medical Group (SJMG) is multi-specialty group with over 60 physicians serving the South Bay since 1955. SJMG has received recognition from health plans and rating agencies for its patient satisfaction, quality and affordability.

The DeltaCare USA DHMO plan is one of four dental plans that you may choose from. This plan requires you to select a dental office from the DeltaCare USA panel of providers at the time you enroll. Once enrolled, you will receive or coordinate all of your dental care through the same dental provider. In the DeltaCare USA plan, you pay the established co-pay amount for each type of procedure and the plan pays all remaining charges. Charges are covered only if you receive treatment from your selected dental provider or upon authorized referral.
MetLife offers three PPO dental plans to choose from. The MetLife Dental plans allow you to choose your dental care provider at the time services are needed. With the MetLife plans, the plans pay a percentage of covered charges based on the services you receive and the provider of service.

The vision plans are provided through Vision Service Plan (VSP). VSP allows you and your covered dependents to utilize the services of a VSP provider for many of your vision needs. The plans provide thorough eye examinations, discounts on lenses, frames, contacts, and laser vision correction.

El Camino Hospital provides benefit-eligible employees with basic life insurance at no cost to you. Basic Life Insurance coverage is $10,000 for Local 39, PRN and SEIU-UHW-represented employees and $50,000 for non-contractual employees. You may not waive the basic coverage.
The Hospital also provides benefit-eligible employees with $10,000 of basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage at no cost to you. AD&D pays a benefit to your beneficiaries if you die or to you if you sustain certain types of injuries as the result of an accident. You may not waive the basic coverage.
Employees may apply for additional voluntary coverage including a spouse/state registered domestic partner and children.
Coverage is available in $10,000 increments. Maximum employee voluntary life coverage amounts are $490,000 for union-represented employees and $450,000 for non-contractual employees. Spouse Life coverage maximum is 50% of the employees total life coverage up to $250,000. Child Life coverage options range from $2,500 to $10,000.
The voluntary AD&D plan allows you to buy coverage for yourself up to $250,000. You may also cover your dependents at a percent of your employee coverage.
Long Term Disability (LTD) is provided to all benefit-eligible employees at no cost. The monthly maximum benefit for union-represented employees is $10,000 and $15,000 for non-contractual employees with a 90 day waiting period.
You may also choose an LTD buy-up benefit, with a waiting period of 30 days.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
An FSA offers you an opportunity to budget and pay for certain living expenses and save on taxes at the same time.

El Camino Transit Subsidy
Employees who regularly use public transportation to commute to and from work are eligible to receive up to $150 per month (pro-rated for FTE) to pay for public transportation costs.
Employees can also set aside pre-tax dollars from their paychecks to pay for transit or vanpool expenses through the Transit FSA plan.

The Employee Assistance Plan through Concern offers free, short-term counseling to employees and members of their families. Concern also offers services to help you manage life events, including finding an attorney, finding suitable childcare providers or other resources for your children, taking care of your finances, your aging parents, and much more.
You can also turn to Concern for access to mindfulness resources through eM Life. Create your own confidential dashboard on the Concern website to reach all of eM Life’s evidence-based mindfulness solutions. Check out their Medical Professional Mindfulness Program to help you address the challenges you are dealing with every day.
El Camino Hospital offers you access to voluntary benefits with convenient payroll deductions and special discount programs. Some of the programs that are offered are Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and MetLaw Insurance.
You may also enroll in home, auto, or pet insurance anytime during the year. Policies that need to be individually underwritten such as home, auto, and pet insurance, require that you contact MetLife directly.

El Camino Hospital provides a hospital-funded Cash Balance plan where eligible employees are automatically enrolled. El Camino Hospital will contribute 5% of your regular salary for each year in which you earn at least 1,000 hours of service.
We offer a 403(b) retirement plan administered by Fidelity. Employees may contribute to the 403(b) Retirement plan through payroll deduction and the Hospital helps your retirement savings grow by matching your contribution.
Employees accrue PTO based on hours worked (up to 80 / pay period) and length of service at the Hospital. PTO hours also accrue on PTO taken, and Jury and Witness Duty leaves.
Employees accrue ESL on a prorated basis based on their work (FTE) status.
