Qualifying Events

Employees must notify HR within 30 days of any of the following family status changes:

• Marriage, divorce, legal separation, or death of a spouse
• Birth, adoption, or death of a child
• Change in child’s dependent status
• Change in residence
• Change in employment status or a change in coverage under another employer-sponsored plan

Health Saving Account

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-free account that you can use to pay for current and future medical expenses. If you're enrolled in a consumer-driven High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP with HSA), you can contribute on a pre-tax basis to an HSA.

You own the HSA Account. You decide:

• Whether to contribute to your HSA Account
• How much to use for medical expenses and which medical expenses to pay from the account
• Whether to pay for medical expenses from the account or save the account for future use
• Which bank to hold the account
• Why type of investments to grow account
   

The employee makes contributions to an HSA:

• Employee contributions are deposited at a financial institution of your choice per pay period for each participant
• Employee contributions are withheld pre-tax through payroll
• Employee contributions using after-tax dollars can be deducted from income tax form
• Individuals can make a one-time transfer from their IRA to a HSA, subject to the contribution limits applicable for the year of the transfer

Healthcare FSA

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a plan that allows you to budget and save up to $3,300 of pre-tax dollars through payroll deductions to pay for qualified expenses (as defined by the IRS) incurred for the plan year. 
 
Dollars invested in an FSA are tax-free; the entire amount is available on the first day of the plan year (January 1, 2025). However, any money not used by the plan year's end is forfeited. Up to $660 of unused funds from the Plan Year can be carried over and used for expenses in the following plan year.
 
An FSA covers eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses such as medical copays, coinsurance, prescription drugs, and dental and vision costs. It's available to you and any eligible dependents, including spouse, children, and any other person who is a qualified IRS dependent.

Dependent Care Expenses

Eligible dependent care expenses for qualifying child (under the age of 13) or any other qualifying persons physically or mentally incapable of self-care (restrictions apply).

$5,000 maximum per tax household per year (Joint and Head of Household; $2,500 if married and filing separately)
