Dental health is important to your overall health. Brink's offers a choice of two dental plans through Delta Dental of Virginia. You can enroll yourself and your dependents in this plan.
Brink's encourages you to maintain your vision through regular eye exams. We offer a choice of two vision plans through MetLife. You can enroll yourself and your dependents in this plan.
If you participate in one of the Consumer-Driven Health Plans (CDHPs), you can use a Health Savings Account (HSA), administered by HealthEquity, to help pay for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses on a pre-tax basis.
To be eligible for an HSA, in addition to being enrolled in a CDHP, you also must not:
An HSA is one of the best ways to save for future health care expenses. Money goes in tax-free, grows tax-free, and comes out tax-free. If you participate in a CDHP and enroll in an HSA, Brink’s will deposit money in your HSA ($300 for employee-only coverage, $600 for employee plus dependent coverage). You can also contribute pre-tax dollars to your HSA. You decide when to spend this money on eligible health care expenses, and it’s always yours — even if you leave the company.
The IRS limits the amount of money you can put into an HSA each year: $3,650 individual / $7,300 family; additional $1,000 catch-up contribution if age 55 or older. These limits include company contributions.
You can your debit card provided by HealthEquity to pay for eligible health care expenses. You can also use online bill pay to pay a doctor or hospital bill or to reimburse yourself for an eligible health care expense that you pay for out of your pocket. Check your account balance at www.healthequity.com or via the HealthEquity smartphone app.
Remember, the HSA is only for eligible health expenses; a list of eligible expenses can be viewed at www.healthequity.com/qme. You will owe tax on ineligible withdrawals, plus a 20% penalty if you are under age 65 and use your HSA for expenses that are not permitted by the IRS.
FSAs are tax-advantaged accounts that can be used to help pay for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses on a pre-tax basis.
You can participate in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) as long as you are not enrolled in a CDHP. You are eligible for an FSA whether you enroll in Brink's PPO plan or waive medical coverage.
You can contribute up to $2,750 to a Health Care FSA with pre-tax dollars and then use your account to reimburse yourself for eligible medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision out-of-pocket expenses (employers cannot contribute to this account). Note: Health Care FSA limits for 2022 have not been released by the IRS and are subject to change.
If you estimate that you will have any health care expenses in the upcoming year, it is wise to contribute to an FSA throughout the year so that your health care expenses can be paid tax free. However, make your best estimate of health care expenses because if you have money left over in the FSA at the end of the year, up to $550 of that money can be rolled over to the next year and any remaining amount will be forfeited.
You will receive a debit card in the mail after you first enroll in the Health Care FSA. You can use this card when you visit your doctor, pharmacy, or other network providers to pay for eligible health care expenses with your FSA funds. In some instances, you may wait for the doctor to file a claim to see how much you owe and then use your FSA to pay any amount due. Visit www.healthequity.com for more information. A list of qualified expenses can be found at www.healthequity.com/qme.
Dependent Care FSAs can be used to pay for expenses associated with caring for your dependents while you’re at work, like daycare centers, babysitters, summer day camp, and eldercare. You can make pre-tax contributions of up to $5,000 per household and can enroll regardless of whether or not you're currently enrolled in Brink’s medical plans. Note: Dependent Care FSA limits for 2022 have not been released by the IRS and are subject to change. All funds must be submitted for reimbursement for the year in which they are contributed; funds do not rollover. Visit www.healthequity.com for more information.
